Manual Bending
Couldn’t Match
CNC bending moves production into the shop and cuts time in the field. 350 feet of copper, 90 bends, 67 fittings, 78 clamps. Fully insulated and racked in 20 man-hours.

Background & Challenge
A large telecommunications company needed identical prefabricated mobile units deployed across multiple states. Each unit required hard copper piping runs bent to precise, repeatable angles. The buildings were identical — which meant every bend had to be identical. And the project was already underway.
Manual bending couldn’t meet the volume or consistency requirements. The mandrel-type bender they initially evaluated was too slow and couldn’t guarantee exact duplicates. UTM needed a fully automatic CNC bender — configured for two tube sizes, capable of producing exact geometry from a single CAD file, and ready to run in weeks.
“Brian, Gus, and the ITEC team were phenomenal, super knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly helpful in getting us bending quickly.”
Jordan, United Team Mechanical
Repeatability
CAD-driven programs produced identical modules from a single digital master across every run.
Offsite Labor
Fully kitted, pre-racked subassemblies arrived labeled and ready, cutting on-site hours to a quick install.
No Changeovers
Dual-stack dies handled 5/8″ and 7/8″ sizes back-to-back, keeping production continuous.
Quality Control
Closed-loop, all-electric motion and automated sequencing eliminated human variability and rework.
ITEC Solution
After researching several options UTM discovered ITEC. Within three to four weeks Brian and the ITEC team had sourced and delivered a double-stack all-electric CNC bender configured for 5/8″ and 7/8″ half-hard copper. No die changes required. The service team trained the UTM operators and got production running fast.
The machine delivered on both fronts. Turning weeks of work into days. With every bend driven by a single STEP file, the automation guarantees repeatability across every run.
